Merry Christmas

I used snowflake stamps from different stamp sets to make snowflake backgrounds. White dots were added to make the background more interesting. I made several cards with the snowflake backgrounds. Here are two of them.

Pink Merry Christmas

I love this Merry Christmas die from Paper Smooches so much that I could die cut Merry Christmas all day long!!

This pink Merry Christmas card was just one of many cards I made this year with the die. I just couldn't find the time to take pictures for all the cards before I sent them out to friends. Maybe I'll start making Christmas cards from tomorrow so I can have a whole year to take pictures for them and write my blog!!

Blue Butterfly Congrates

I made this CAS butterfly card to play along the 200th CAS Colours and Sketches challenge. This week is a color challenge inspired by the colors in their blog header with the beautiful monochromatic shades of blue.

Here are the close-ups. I stamped the sentiment with Tsukineko Brilliance pigment ink and then heat embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder for added shimmer. I know it's hard to see from the photo, but the shimmer is there. For the butterflies, I used double-sided tapes on the back of the blue cards before I die-cut the butterflies so the small pieces could stay within the butterflies. I also added white pearls to match the butterflies from their blog header.

I love butterflies! Thank you for stopping by!

Thank You Tree

I was playing around with my homemade texture paste and made a tree with a stencil. Then, when I saw the challenge at Less is More this week, I decided to paint some of the leaves with gold acrylic paint and added a gold sentiment and a gold border. Love it! Purple, my favorite color, goes so well with the gold. Thank you for the inspirations!

Here is a close-up. I just love the texture!

Autumn Thank You

I bought this Penny Black stamp set a while back, but haven't had a chance to use it. With the pretty fall foliage, the poppy stamp was calling me to give it a try. So here it is. My first attempt and I am sure I will use the poppy stamp quite often.

I first stamped the flowers with gray ink on a piece of watercolor card, then colored the flowers using watercolor pencils. I also used gold acrylic paint to add a stripe on the right and used my new gold Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add dots around the flowers.

Here is a close-up. Those gold dots really sparkle.

Turquoise & Lilac

This is a happy card I made for a friend. She was always there for me when I needed her help. I am very grateful to have her as my friend.
I never knew Turquoise & Lilac go so well together!! Thanks for the inspiration from the challenge at Less is More this week, I was using the two colors together for the first time to make the watercolor background for the card. It turned out very nice and I am so happy!!

Awesome

I made this card to play along with September Waffle Flower Challenge. The colors from the challenge photo were so soft and inspiring!

I decided to use the Sizzix dies I bought a while ago. This was my first time to use dies. I had been so hesitated to use them, so afraid to leave marks on the plates of my beloved Sizzix. But the inspiration photo was calling me to make this card! I am happy to say- no regrets!!

I first die cut the flowers using colors from the inspiration photo. Then I arranged the flowers on a piece of a gray card that I used as the background. After I was happy with their positions, I then die cut the flowers from the gray card and inlaid all the color flowers back to the background gray card. To finish the card, I used the awesome sentiment from Waffle Flower's "In Every Way Stamp Set". I used silver embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment and then fuzzy cut it. (I am so much in need of that "Awesome" die!!) The sentiment was so perfect to describe the moment when I first used dies... AWESOME!! Thank you so much for the inspiration!!

Month long card challenges are my favorites. I don't know about you, but I am slow on card making. After I saw the challenges I wanted to play along, I would think about it, then I would take out my stamps, my cardstocks to look for ideas, then I would make the cards, and think about the cards a few more days, and remake the cards... That's why I always enter the challenges at the last few days. Sometimes the last day.

I thought I was making these cards forever! The final versions were not the cards I imaged at first, but it turned out to be the cards I liked. And instead of one card, I made two.

When I first made the card, I was using black ink for the flowers. Then I wanted to see what they would be like if I stamped them in gray ink. So I made a second card using gray ink for the flowers and black ink for the sentiment so the sentiment could pop.

After making the second card, I was thinking could it be better if I cut out the middle section of the first card and added an extra layer for the sentiment so it could pop? So I did that. Then I also did something similar to the second card. I just went back and forth between these two cards. Which card do you think is better?

This is the first card I made. The second card is in the the next post.
