Awesome

I made this card to play along with September Waffle Flower Challenge. The colors from the challenge photo were so soft and inspiring!

I decided to use the Sizzix dies I bought a while ago. This was my first time to use dies. I had been so hesitated to use them, so afraid to leave marks on the plates of my beloved Sizzix. But the inspiration photo was calling me to make this card! I am happy to say- no regrets!!

I first die cut the flowers using colors from the inspiration photo. Then I arranged the flowers on a piece of a gray card that I used as the background. After I was happy with their positions, I then die cut the flowers from the gray card and inlaid all the color flowers back to the background gray card. To finish the card, I used the awesome sentiment from Waffle Flower's "In Every Way Stamp Set". I used silver embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment and then fuzzy cut it. (I am so much in need of that "Awesome" die!!) The sentiment was so perfect to describe the moment when I first used dies... AWESOME!! Thank you so much for the inspiration!!

Happy Little Stampers September Anything Goes With Dies:

Pink too

This is the second card I made after lots of back and forth. All the back and forth had proved that this is a challenge after all!! The first card can be found here.

Month long card challenges are my favorites. I don't know about you, but I am slow on card making. After I saw the challenges I wanted to play along, I would think about it, then I would take out my stamps, my cardstocks to look for ideas, then I would make the cards, and think about the cards a few more days, and remake the cards... That's why I always enter the challenges at the last few days. Sometimes the last day.

I thought I was making these cards forever! The final versions were not the cards I imaged at first, but it turned out to be the cards I liked. And instead of one card, I made two.

When I first made the card, I was using black ink for the flowers. Then I wanted to see what they would be like if I stamped them in gray ink. So I made a second card using gray ink for the flowers and black ink for the sentiment so the sentiment could pop.

After making the second card, I was thinking could it be better if I cut out the middle section of the first card and added an extra layer for the sentiment so it could pop? So I did that. Then I also did something similar to the second card. I just went back and forth between these two cards. Which card do you think is better?

This is the first card I made. The second card is in the the next post.

Happy BDay

I recently bought a pack of kraft cardstock and had been playing with the paper. To my surprise, the neutral color of the kraft cards made great backgrounds, and they were so easy to color using colored pencils or markers.

I got inspirations from Just Add Ink Challenge #329. The challenge was a photo inspiration with pretty colorful tulips. I used the colors from the photo to color the giraffe: purple, pink, yellow, white, green. Hope you like the cute giraffe.

I'll also play along the Card Concept #57 The Rainbow Connection. The challenge this month was a photo inspiration with colorful flowerpots. I love all the colors from the photo. It has made the end of summer so happy and cheerful! I used clean and simple style to make this card.
